Our Statements
Mission
ITF-Europe has a twofold mission: to help communities in Africa efficiently gain access to reliable, affordable, clean tap water, and to provide European youth with an empowering environment for work-based
Vision
To offer the best programs that ensure an empowered youth and developed communities.
Legal Status
ITF in Europe is in the process of acquiring its full legal status by undertaking registration procedures in Italy. In the meantime, ITF Europe still operates virtually and through a fiscal sponsorship with Open Collective Europe, a legal and financial toolbox for grassroots groups based in Belgium. Open Collective Europe sponsors ITF, providing fundraising, legal status, and money management platform for our community.

About Us
The ITF in Europe adopts a youth-to-youth approach to ensure that communities in Africa have access to clean water. This is achieved by recruiting youth volunteers from European countries, aged 15-30 years, who work on a minimum 6-month contract to plan and fundraise for setting up a water kiosk at a school or a public water fountain in a selected community in Africa experiencing a clean water shortage crisis.
Once the fundraising campaign reaches sufficient funds to set up the identified water kiosk at a school or public drinking water fountain, the European volunteers travel to the beneficiary community in Africa. They work with local ITF volunteers and the community to establish the project infrastructure.
Our Projects
The Africa Trip
Inspired to make a difference, European youth involved in every fundraising campaign are required to visit the project location. Once they reach the fundraising target to set up a water kiosk at a school or public drinking water fountain, they travel to work alongside local ITF members and community residents to establish the project. This trip offers participants a unique opportunity to learn, share, and grow both personally and professionally. During the trip, participants are also expected to provide project administrative support.

What We Are Trying To Solve
Africa faces significant clean water scarcity. Most rural communities lack a functioning tap water system. Ironically, in urban areas, single-use plastic water bottles are often the only source of clean drinking water for those who can afford them, but they contribute to littering.
-
In Kenya, only one-third of the population has access to clean water close to their homes at an affordable price.
-
Children often must walk at least 4 km to secure water for their families before or after school, leading to absenteeism and school dropouts.
